Catching up

Well my friends it has been some time since we've blogged. I do apologize for that. So grab a cup of hot coco and lets gab for a while!

I want to send all of my congratulations to the newly engaged ladies! The holidays bring families together and year after year prove to be a great time for engagements! I am sure that your fiance has picked out a stunning ring that captures the unique and beautiful qualities of you! I hope to see it soon :)

We have had a very busy holiday season here at BleuBelle Bridal. The day after Christmas was just great! I feel like we should be a bridal salon in Pennsylvania because we see so many brides from there! Its great for me since that is my home state. Two brides came to see us with Pennsylvania connections that day.

Ashley is from Savannah but now lives in Philadelphia. She found a beautiful Reem Acra gown that we were sampling. She is thinking about doing a lace veil. I think that will be georgous! This gown is just like a blank canvas, perfect for adding personal touches to make it unique and totaly yours!

Our other Pennsylvania bride is from the South Central area (where I am from) and getting married at the Hotel Hershey! It is a fabulous resort in Hershey, PA. It also happens to be where my grandparents honeymooned! She will be coming back this week with her mother and aunt. I am very excited to see her again!!!!

I almost forgot, we even had another PA bride on Saturday the 27th! She has lived down here for about 13 years, but her aunt lives in my home town of Carlisle, PA and is my Mother's jewelr! It is such a small world. This bride is considering a short dress. I love it! There are a few Priscilla and Melissa dresses she is thinking of.

I just love this one! She is a little sassy and very sweet. The perfect dress for the bride who wants a classic tea-length gown!

In other news...

We will be sending the Tacori jewlery back on the 2nd! Please do not miss this opportunity to see all of the collection! There are so many fabulous pieces that you are sure to find the right accessory for any event!

Also keep your eyes open for a bridal show that will be taking place at The Southbridge Grand Lake Lodge & Spa on January 24th!

I hope you have a fantastic New Years! Happy wedding planning!

Merci Beaucoup to Southern Graces

This is a special thank you to the oh so fabulous Southern Graces catering and event firm. Everyday, the sweet ladies of Southern Graces have been dropping off scrumptious treats and sweets as a part of the twelve days of Christmas. Today, we received the most delicious hors d'oeuvres party in a box and a Fleur de Lis cookie! We have been loving the different treats that each new day brings- some of the favorites have included spinach queso with homemade tortilla chips, red velvet cupcakes, chocolate covered pretzels and a bottle of white muscadine wine from a local vinyard. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

If y'all don't already know about Southern Graces, be sure to check out their webiste

Carolina At Her Very Best

Carolina Herrera, my personal style icon (I want to be her!), is at her very best when creating charming and classic pieces such as this bolero. Made of cashmere and silk it features delicate embroidery and bead work. Trust me, the pictures do not do this little number justice, it is just fantastic. We have had a number of brides in recently who need to have their shoulders covered for their ceremony, according to church restrictions, and this bolero is the perfect solution. It is the picture of sophistication when paired with Carolina's ivory triple georgette dress (number 35706 as seen in the picture) and would look equally lovely when worn with any simple dress. And, for all of you winter brides, this is a wonderful way to keep warm!

She has done several of our brides weddings and each one that I have seen are just beautiful! I was specifically intrigued by her grooms cakes! They are just so neat. She can really create something unique that captures you beloved.

Latest Tacori Obsession

So, this new piece from Tacori is our latest obsession here at BleuBelle Bridal. It is a sterling silver ponytail wrap with Swarovski crystals. It is from Tacori's Regal Wedding collection and can be worn as a hair accessory or as an innovative necklace. We adore the way that it looks when braided through a long and loose ponytail!

One of our favorite brides, whose wedding is in just a few short weeks, was in this past weekend and purchased this hair piece for her upcoming nuptials. She will be wearing her hair in an elegant and retro updo and will have her stylist work the piece into her hair. We know that she will look simply stunning on her day and have been just thrilled to be a part of this joyous occasion!

Extended Trunk Show

Hello!

After speaking with Nabil at Tacori, he has agreed to let us keep all of the beautiful jewelry through the 1st weekend of the New Year! I have to say that their pieces are really beautiful. There seems to be something for everyone! Whether you are looking for something classic, vintage, modern, simple, or ornate - there are Tacori Pieces for you!

Over the next few weeks we are going to feature some of the beautiful designs we have for the trunk show. You can also visit Tacori's web site to see other styles available.

This is a really lovely necklace that has many coordinating pieces. It has pearls and Swarovski crystals. My favorite aspect of this necklace, and the other coordinating pieces, is the detailed work that goes into the pearl mounting. They look like leaves, giving a very natural and organic feeling.

Stop by at any time to take a look at the Tacori Trunk Show. I hope that you have a great week. Happy wedding planning!

"The Scalloped Dress"

I have received several e-mails asking about "the scalloped dress" that was featured on Style Me Pretty.

Let me introduce her to you. Her name is Zoe and she is designed by Vera Wang. She is an amazing dress! Zoe is part of the Vera Wang Luxe Collection. This means that she is hand made in Ohio start to finish by one woman. She features a sculpted sweetheart neckline with passimentary loops (that are also at the hem). Zoe is a modified mermaid silhouette with a wrapped bodice of organza that ties into a bow at the back. On the dress are two kinds of hand placed lace - Lyon and Alencon. There is also an optional raffia belt (shown in both pictures).

Zoe really is quite a lovely dress. Due to all of the detailing that goes into making her, she is a bit expensive. However, remember that this month she is 10% off because of the lovely ladies at Vera offering a token of appreciation on the gowns.

If you want to know more about the lovely Zoe - stop by or give me a call! I look forward to seeing you soon. Happy wedding planning!

Some of our lovely brides!

My good friend and neighbor, Lyn Bonham, just gave me a few images from some of our former brides! I just had to share them with you. We will be getting images from some other photographers, so I will try to post them as soon as we get them.

The top left image is of Katie Culler. She was such a fun bride! Along with our seamstress, she turned her gown into a one of a kind original! We added the lace at the hem as well as another layer of organza and we altered the neckline. If she looks familiar that is because her wedding was featured in Savannah Magazine's Wedding Issue.

The top right image is of Kelly Miles. Kelly wore a beautiful Vera Wang gown. It suited her Low Country wedding so well. The gown is made of English Net and had a champagne Mokuba ribbon around it. That is the official ribbon company for Vera and we use them as well. They have so many color and fabric options that there is something for every bride.

The bottom left image is Elizabeth DuRant. She was one of our first out of town bride - Sumter, SC. Elizabeth wore a Vera Wang Luxe gown (the same one as a certain Canadian Pop Star) and paired it with Vera Wang peep toe stilletoes and her mother's lace mantilla. This image was shot in Savannah's famed Forsythe Park by the iconic fountain.

The bottom right image is Katie Demere. Katie wore a Vera Wang gown matched with a Carolina Herrera bolero to match her Winter Wonder Land themed wedding. Here you see her wonderful hubby Dan spining her across the dance floor at The Savannah Yatch Club.

We love our brides, current and former. If you happen to fall into that category we would love for you to share some images with us! I am always looking to update our website or write on the blog. Send them my way!

If you are a newly engaged bride, I send my very best wishes! Feel free to stop by to paruse our bridal gowns, maids dresses, and accessories! I look forward to seeing you soon. Happy wedding planning!

New Spring 2009 Dresses!

This week we received our new Spring 2009 gowns from Vera Wang! They are beautiful! Two are from her Opening Collection, one is from her Main Collection, and the other is from her Luxe Collection.

Theses two dresses are from her Opening Collection. The first dress is style 1G029. She is a tulle ballgown with a Chantilly lace bodice. It is so light for a dress with so much volume! The bodice is just beautiful! Chantilly lace is very soft and delicate, so it creates a very romantic look. I also love love love the ivory grosgrain ribbon! It is an option so you don't have to do it but it is a sweet little touch.

The second dress is style 1G059. She is a modified a-line gown with an organza skirt and faille bodice. I adore the bow on this dress. Its a bow without being too much. Organza is a flowy fabric, so this dress moves very well when you walk in it.

The first dress in this section is from Vera's Main Collection. She is style 11589. Our gown is sampled in Slipper Satin, though it also comes in Duchesse Satin. There isn't a huge difference between the two except that Duchesse is more expensive. I love how simple and elegant this dress is. The front is a blank slate, perfect to do a great bouquet of flowers with or a sash with a broach. The back of her is stunning with the draping that is done. I really like the overlapped train. It adds a little modernity to such a classic cut.

The final dress we recieved is named Joan. She is from Vera's Luxe Collection. The bands are made of bias cut Duchesse and Organdy. I love the little bows on the back. Though they are an option, I think they are just darling! She is a slightly more fitted modified a-line than some of our others, though she is not quite as fitted as a mermaid. This is such a classic gown! The elements of the design will never go out of style!

I sure hope that these images inspire you as you plan your wedding. As always, if you need anything or have any questions, please leave a comment or send us an e-mail! We always love to share our advice and expertice.

Happy wedding planning!

Fall 2009 Vera Wang

Wow! Can I just tell you how much I am loving the Fall 2009 Vera Wang collection?! They are some of the most fantastic dresses from one collection that I have seen. The entire show blew me away. I will admit, there are some dresses that are very Vera - ones I don't really see our BleuBelle Brides wearing - but overall the collection is amazing! If you haven't checked it out yet you must at Brides.com!

I am going to play favorites and share with you two of the dresses that I have just fallen in love with. Style 12169 and style 12199 are just so darling.

The top two images are of 12169. Let me first start off by saying - WOW! I have had a favorite dress for quite some time, but this one really has stolen my heart. It is made with Dove colored Duchesse Silk and Charcoal Tulle. It can come in white or ivory. So don't worry! You can still have this fabulous dress even if the color is a little too nontraditional for you.

A little tid bit of bridal trivia for you - white dresses were originally only used for weddings because the bride was unable to afford a dyed fabric. Only wealthy brides could wear a coloured gown.

I love the ribbon accent and stars on the dress. Both are optional but could be a fun touch to add for the reception if you didn't want to wear them down the aisle. You may even be able to turn the stars into earrings and a matching necklace. I will have to explore that option with local jewelers.

Style 12199 is also a fantastic option! She is made of Duchesse Silk as well (shown in ivory) and has an aquamarine garland. The garland can also come in a crytal color so that it is a little more subdued. The back sash is shown in black elastic but it can also come in oyster, ivory, or white grosgrain ribbon.

I just adore the bodice of this dress. The neck line is beautiful! Sweetheart necklines are a nice option for something a little different than just straight across. The draping of the skirt is lovely as well. I believe that this will create a nice slim shilloutte.

I just can't wait to see these girls in person! I know that these two will be on the top of many magazines best dress lists for Fall 2009! I hope that they inspire you as you search for your wedding gown.

Happy wedding planning!

Savannah Weddings Magazine

Some of you local brides may have seen the newest publication to grace Savannah - Savannah Weddings Magazine. I have heard that it will be going national, so all of you out of town brides will be able to get a copy soon!

The publication is just gorgeous! They featured several of our gowns in the issue - including this beautiful Vera on the cover! I really love this dress. Its satin faced organza and when you walk it just floats. The seaming on this dress is very unique too. It is great for the bride who is a little straighter because it creates an hourglass shape. This dress aslo elongates the legs with virtical seaming on the skirt.

Another feature of Savannah Weddings that we were excited about was that one of our brides was in the magazine.

Rebeca Sineath wore a flowy Reem Acra gown with a bleu sash and floral broach. The images were taken by Chia and Hon. The wedding looked so lovely at Oldfield River Club in Bluffton, SC.
You must pick up the magazine to see her wedding and the other fabulous weddings that were featured!

Best Wishes in your planning! I hope to see you soon!

Adventures in wedding planning!

At BleuBelle Bridal, we tend to help our brides with different elements of the wedding. Being a bridal salon, most of that is attire related but we also give opinions on venues, colors, favors, and the millions of other details that go into wedding planning!

By best friend in the entire world is getting married next October in Pennsylvania. She and I spent last weekend doing preliminary planning. I normally don't get to do that with our brides since they have at least an idea of where things will be once they come to see me. It was so exciting looking through the different magazines, pulling ideas and seeing what the reoccurring themes were.

Something that I have enjoyed seeing brides do is taking things that are important to them or their groom and incorporate it into the wedding. For instance, my best friend grew up on an apple orchard. Since the fall is harvest time for apples, she is going to incorporate them into the table arrangements and maybe even do them as favors. We fell in love with the green apple color, so I believe that will be the main type of apple that is used.

Using in season products are always the way to go! Whether it is flowers or food - using in season products will cut down on costs because they do not have to be imported. You can also usually find a local vendor who grows what you are looking for.

She also decided that the other accent color would be blue. A darker blue, but not navy. These two colors together will be really lovely together. They aren't your traditional fall wedding colors, which will make them stand out from other weddings next fall.

This is kind of the color combination, as it is now. That Jim Hjelm maids dress is so cute! The sweet heart neckline is very flattering and a nice change from straight across strapless. The pleating draws the eye in, very slimming. Who knows maybe she will choose this one for us (wink wink)?!

Best wishes in your wedding planning! As I said before, we love giving advice on all things bridal. Send me an e-mail, call, or drop by any time!

Exciting Maids Dress News!

It is with great pleasure that I announce Vera Wang Maids has lowered the prices of almost all of their dresses! Most dresses are now less than $300. We carry a large selection of her cocktail and full length maids dresses. The Vera Wang Maids site only has a few styles from the collection but there are many more option in styles that the ones on the site. I would recommend looking at Brides.com as well for images of her maids dresses. Here are two of my favorites!
This is style 23M05. It is such a great full length option! I love the combination of tulle and satin. It is a very flattering style for maids and has little straps to help keep the dress up. Also, Vera did pockets this season! So your girls can hold your lip stick, snacks, or anything else you need during the big day!
Style 23M15 is another favorite of mine! I just love this dress! It is so chic. A gorgeous cocktail length option. This is a style that your girls could wear again and again. The metallic band also come is silver if that coordinates with your color scheme better. Like the other dress, this one has those handy pockets!

The best way to look at maids dresses though is to do it in person! Stop by the store to see not only our Vera Wang Maids but Jim Hjelm, Alvina Valenta, and Amsale dresses as well. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Reasons why we love what we do ...

This past weekend we were so blessed to be part of our brides big day! Heather, Kaylee, and I (Jaclyn) all helped make those last moments as a maid special for our bride. Heather and I delivered the dress to one of the most beautiful historic homes downtown, the Green-Meldrium House. It is right beside St. John's Episcopal Church. Oh, to live in a home like that! We laid everything out for our bride - her dress, shoes, veils, and earrings. Christine Hall, the photographer, was able to get some beautiful shots of the dress before our bride arrived. Once the bride, her girls, and mother arrived there was a great sense of anticipation. I helped her get into the dress, making sure it was in just the right place.

While Christine took photos, Heather helped make sure that the bride looked perfect. Kaylee and I were with our bride before going down the aisle. There was some comic relief when one of us got a case of the hiccups! It made all of us giggle.

When it was time for her to walk down the aisle, we laid out the train and veil. She was a vision on her father's arm! After the beautiful ceremony, we bustled her dress and put in a shorter veil. It was a Royal Bustle, two rows of French Bustling. The groomsmen had fun watching that - they were mesmerized!

Another event occurred yesterday that made me remember how privileged we are to be part of a brides journey. A very sweet bride and mother came in for an appointment. Kaylee and I met them down in The Paris Market where we were able to chat and get to know each other. When we came up to the bridal salon we talked specifically about her vision for the wedding. Once we all had a good idea of what we were looking for, we started pulling dresses. She at first seemed to be going in a flowy direction. She tried on two that really looked amazing on and she loved. Then, she tried on "The One!"

She just knew once it was on. It was then confirmed by mom, who loved it as well. What was so special was that she was able to create two totally different looks out of the one dress. By using a ivory double faced silk satin sash and cathedral length ivory veil with scattered pearls, she was able to create a very timeless look. To change it up for the reception (and maybe the bridal portrait) we put on a black silk shantung sash, cage veil, and Victorian Bustle! It was so modern and fashion forward!
To quote what our bride wrote in our guest book:
"Thank you so much for the wonderful experience as I shopped for my bridal accessories and beautiful wedding gown! The personal attention and amazing atmosphere made it so special and memorable! I will always remember how great of an experience I had! Thanks again!"
Needless to say, it was a wonderful experience for all involved. Like I said, we love what we do. That's why we are here. We want each bride that steps into our space to have the most wonderful experience. We want her to see the wedding day vision come to life!
Best wishes in planning your wedding and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Spring Bridal ideas

Fall has surely come in Savannah. You can tell because at night it will get into the sixties but up in the eighties during the day! Every now and then it will stay cooler during the day, but usually that sun keeps you very warm as you walk down Broughton.

Well, with fall here that means we are getting in many Spring 2009 brides, as well as some for the Fall of 2009. Our designers have created some beautiful gowns for the new collections. They are focusing on a more fitted silhouette. Something mermaid or modified a-line. The mermaid really allows the bride to show off her figure, while the modified a gives a bit of shape but still some fullness.

Details like lace and beading are still popular. We just received this AMAZING Priscilla of Boston gown! This dress is made of Gardenia Satin, so soft and yummy! The lace on the bodice is called Alencon. It is one of the two popular bridal laces. The difference between Alencon and Chantilly (the other traditional bridal lace) is that Alencon is corded, making it stand out a little bit more. I absolutely love the neckline on this dress! The slight sweetheart and gathered satin create lovely lines.

There are always so many ways to make a dress truly yours. For instance, it would be really fun to try that dress with a colored sash for the reception! A family broach is one way to get your something borrowed in as well :) And don't forget about your veil! A little veil (shorter than your elbow) would be great for a casual wedding. If you aren't into the whole veil thing, a feather accent would also look gorgeous.

I am always happy to give recommendations with style questions or any wedding questions for that matter! Drop me a line, call, or come by some day. I would love to chat.

Happy wedding planning!

2 Year Anniversary Celebration!

Two years ago this month, owner Heather Burge opened the doors of BleuBelle Bridal to give brides the experience that she wanted while shopping for her wedding gown. She invisioned a quite inviting atmosphere where a bride, along with friends and family, can relax and enjoy this special time in a woman's life. She found the perfect space on the third floor of the building on Broughton and Whitaker streets in downtown Savannah. Soon she was placing orders with Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, and other designers.

Two years later, some changes have taken place but the core goal of giving brides the most wonderful experience still reigns. In celebration of our 2 Year Anniversary, we would love to give every bride a 10% token of appreciation on her gown. As always, brides who purchase their gown from us also get 10% off their accessories and maids dresses. This sale will run through the end of the month, so take advantage of this opportunity and get the gown of your dreams! Please call for an appointment, or stop by and take a look! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Non-cocktail hour ideas

We are gearing up for our fall brides to walk down the aisle. This means that lots of fittings are going on now and the entire bridal look is coming together! During fittings, it gives brides a chance to ask us for recommendations that we have. We know where to go and what to do on things like hair stylists, lingerie shops, and transportation. However, we were recently left a bit stumped. What to do for a non-cocktail hour?

Our bride does not plan on serving alcohol at the wedding. This poses an interesting problem to solve - what to do with the guests while the couple takes pictures for about an hour. To give you a little background, the ceremony and reception are at the same venue. This means that time won't be taken up by transportation. We thought about hor'dourves and a slide show of the couple from birth to present. Then we thought we would open it up to you! We would love your ideas. Things you've seen done well and things that could have used some improvement. So let us know what you think!

Summer Is In Full Swing!

We are in the midst of summer, and busy as ever! Our Sample Sale went great. We made a lot of brides happy with great prices on our sample gowns, shoes, and accessories! Now we have lots of upcoming weddings, and we are so excited! We are looking forward to working with all of our new brides in their fittings with our fabulous seamstress, Tammy. We love the process that happens during fittings. The gown really takes on the personality of the bride, and it forms into something of her own. It's so much fun for us to watch the same dresses we see every day take on a new personality!

Fittings are a fabulous time to finalize the overall "look" by choosing veils and accessories. Our designers, Cheryl King Couture , Homa Bridal and Tacori, can customize veils and accessories to accommodate any look. You can get a detachable blusher, so that the long layer of the veil can be removed for the reception! This makes for beautiful pictures for your first dance as man and wife!

Coutdown to 2009!

Last night we hosted a party in our space in honor of the brides getting married in 2009. The best wedding vendors in Savannah were also here to help the girls gather information and get excited about their weddings! Ashley Field brought delicious food from Savor Savannah. From the goat cheese crostinis, to the colorful fresh fruit platter, everything was beautifully presented and oh so tasty! Julie Drisco from Garden on the Square created several beautiful designs with pinks, greens, and whites. She showed off the new trend of light box centerpieces. These boxes serve as a base for the flowers and shine light through the vase - creating soft romantic lighting for your reception. Minette Rushing of Custom Cakes brought a fab 3 tiered black and white wedding cake with a sugar flower arrangement as the topper. She also brought samples of her vanilla, chocolate, and carrot cakes in the form on mini cupcakes with butter cream icing. Delish! Event planner Tricia Huddas was also with us, showing brides some of the amazing work she has done in event planning - including one of our former brides Katie Culler who was featured in Savannah Magazine's wedding issue.

All in all - good food, beautiful dresses, fabulous brides, and a glass of champagne to top it off made for an evening relishing the excitement of tying the knot!
